10/03/09

In today's lesson we edited the movie to the new story line. This improves it a great deal as it makes more sense and with the credits creates more tension for the audience. To improve it we need to add in dialogue so the audience can understand that the other character is their brother and he is about to find out what they have done wrong that is why they are racing home; by adding dialogue such as "quickly we got to get home before my brother!"

09/03/09

In this lesson we decided to change our story line slightly, instead of having a teacher going to the house and catching the boys, we changed the role to their brother. We cut the film so it builds more tension, the brother is coming closer to catching them and they are racing home; this way the story makes more sense. Therefore we do not have to re-film anything, and will hopefully complete the whole movie by the end of this week (including soundtrack).

5/02/09

Today we are unable to do much work, as we are waiting to film our final shots of our opening sequence. Hopefully we will do that this weekend and will be able to edit the rest of our film by next week including editing and sound.

3/02/09

This lesson we used Live Type, this program enabled us to create really good credits at the beginning of our film, for example different fonts and animations for K.J.F.M Productions and the actors names. We are placing the credits between shots that jump, this will create the sense that out continuity is better than actually is.

2/02/09

In this lesson we researched opening title sequences for "Wreckie" This is the opening sequence for Gladiator featuring Russell Crowe, we felt this was a good a opening sequence because the music really built up tension. We researched different genres because we felt we could get a better idea for our film, with a variety of ideas.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SvymXFaDD8

26/02/09

This lesson we continued editing the soundtrack, and found out how to slow or speed up the tempo of individual tracks. Also we discovered that we are going to have to re-film parts of "Wreckie" due to continuity faults. For example the teacher is going to feature throughout the film, building up suspense by giving the impression that he is getting closer to catching the characters running away.

24/02/09

In this lesson we started to add music, we originally planned to record a track that was similar to those in "Ferris Beuller's Day off" and a running scene from "Friends". However due to a lack of time we have chosen music from soundtrack, it begins with a tambourine loop which builds up and adds in drums and orchestral string section which creates suspense and fits really well with the running.

23/02/09

Our first lesson back we reviewed the filming and started to edit. We found it difficult as we wanted to achieve lots of smooth running shots with different camera angles, however as they were mostly filmed separately the continuity was not very good, we decided to add in titles between the shots as this made the jumps less noticeable.

16/02/09-22/02/09

During half term we didn't manage to meet up as a group, however part of the group were successful and filmed using friends who volunteered to participate in the film. We filmed "wreckie" in Horley, although we originally planned to film in Reigate. However the set we found was perfect for our running space, with lots of clear roads and houses with large gardens. We managed to complete our filming so when we returned we could start editing and adding sound straight away.

9/02/09,10/02/09,12/02/09

In these lessons we tried to film as much as possible however due to bad weather and absences of people in our group we found it difficult to carry on our filming. On the Thursday we managed to get quite a lot of filming done and we planned to finish it over half term.

05/02/09

As we are really behind on our schedule because of the snow, today we changed our timetable today and this is a copy of it.

10th Feb in the afternoon we are planning to get all running scenes completed.
12th Feb we are planning to complete the rest of the filming (Kate's house, train station and maybe Reigate high street)

Hopefully we will complete all of our filming this week, however we are planning to borrow the camera over half term incase we need to finalize our filming.

After half term we plan to edit all of film and have it ready to add soundtrack, therefore Freddie (who is in charge of music) will need to complete the music over half term or throughout this week.

02/02/09-03/02/09

We were due to start filming on the Tuesday and prepare for filming on the Monday, however due to the snow the college was closed and we could not access the equipment  and the snow would be too dangerous to film in. Therefore we had to completely change our timetable to the following week.

29/01/09

In this lesson we decided our timetable, this is a copy of out timetable.
3rd Feb 9:45- Start filming first scene, (location: college and Kate's house)
4th Feb 9:00-12:35- Continue filming (location Kate's house, train station and high street)
5th Feb 12:25- editing/filming in lesson
6th Feb 10:55-12:25 Start editing. 14:45 music (James & Freddie)
9th Feb 14:45- music editing

27/01/08

During this lesson we observed soundtracks that could possibly fit into out running scene, with this in mind we thought about different ideas with out takes including the cast members of the group.

file:///Network/Servers/mondas.reigate.ac.uk/mw7100$/Desktop/Movie%201.mov

also with thought about abstract pieces that would not normally go with something like this.

with that we also thought that with a serious out take clip it would provided a comedic value.file:///Network/Servers/mondas.reigate.ac.uk/mw7100$/Desktop/Movie%202.mov

26/01/08

During this lesson we started working on our script, whilst working on our we came up with different scenarios for the characters to do, we had a few different ones and a few crazy ones but we ended up looking at other films scripts with the same genre to try and come up with ideas for it

http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Ferris-Bueller's-Day-Off.html

http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/American-Pie.html

these are some of scripts that we looked at, we went through films like American pie and Ferris Buellers, because these scripts aimed at the same audiences we aiming for.

22/01/09

In this lesson we presented our powerpoint presentation to the class, this was quite successful however next time we will make sure that the hyperlinks work correctly and share the speaking more equally between the group members.
This is our powerpoint presentation.

20/01/09

In this lesson we started to plan our presentation for Thursday, this involved coming up with the name of our movie, "Wreckie". We are making a powerpoint presentation, this will present the idea of our movie, the budget, the inspiration for our movie and our synopsis.

Lesson Four 13/01/09

During out forth lesson we went on a wreckie and explored our surroundings to try and find some suitable settings for our shots.
a few of our ideas were that we would actually use the front of the college, because its perfectly situated, its near the station.
after viewing our sites we also thought about other films that had similar, running scenes and possible soundtracks that could go with our theme.

We thought that the sweets version of ballroom blitz would be a brilliant theme tune, but for obviously copyright infringements we cannot use it, but our base track will be recorded by Freddie Bunn and his band.

Lesson Three 12/01/09

In this lesson we created a synopsis for our film;

Mark Walker and James Anglim are legends in their own rights, just for their uncanny skills of deception, they have a plan, before they graduate from college, they embark on a wreckie around Reigate. they borrow a Citroen Saxo and they embark on spiritual journey to find themselves, but things go wrong, whilst in reigate one of their teachers( Dr Ferrdie Bunn)sees the boys driving off, so he decides to try follow the boys in an attempt to bring them to justice.
the film comes to a climax with a fast paced scene that will surely get you on the edge of your seats.

Lesson Two 06/01/09

During this lesson we began to research the idea of a teen comedy in greater detail. We devised a plan of our scene which included a running scene similar to that in "Ferris Bueller's day off".

We began to explore in more detail an idea for a script of our scene. We decided on an idea where a character would be running away from someone or something and would end up at a house (the location of this house would be one of the group members'). We would then cut to the morning after at the house, where the character would explain themselves and the beginning of the story. This would establish a main narrator in the story.

The choice of shots that we would use for this part of the scene would be an establishing shot of the house then combined with medium close ups of the character in order to understand their facial expressions and develop a unique bond with the audience of the narrator. An example of these shots and ideas are explained in the opening sequence to "Ferris Bueller's day off";

Lesson One 05/01/09

The first lesson we came together as a group, firstly we discussed the different genres we could explore. For example horror, rom-com and finally we decided to create an teen comedy. Together we came up with the name KJFM for our production company. We wanted something original, that includes all of us, and the initials of our names put together created KJFM.

After coming up with our name, we decided to go into more detail about our opening scene, Freddie then suggested Ferris Bueller's day off, after all liking the idea we started researching in more detail, we watched film clips off youtube. We liked the idea of a running sequence, because it gives a good introduction to the characters without any dialogue, and creates a sense of adventure. For more research on running scenes we looked at clips such as 'Ferris Bueller's day off' and 'The Swimmer'.
